Christopher Barry (MD, PhD) is a transplant surgeon at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) specializing in liver, kidney, and pancreas transplantation as well as the treatment of liver cancer. A native of Rochester, he trained at Tufts University, Stanford University, and the University of California at San Francisco. He then moved to UC San Diego where he was an Assistant Professor of Transplant Surgery. He returned to Rochester in 2009 to join the Division of Solid Organ Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery at URMC as an Associate Professor. His clinical expertise, in addition to transplantation, includes laparoscopic liver tumor resection and other tumor ablation techniques. His laboratory investigates the molecular genetics of liver cancer as well as methods to noninvasively test for fatty liver disease.
