ROCHESTER, NY (May 7, 2012) — On Saturday, June 9, 2012, nearly 100 Rochesterians will participate in TEDxFlourCity, an event featuring talks by local change makers and thought leaders. The event will take place at the Rochester Academy of Medicine (1441 East Avenue, Rochester, NY 14610) from 10:00am- 4:00pm. The event is free to attend, and applications are currently being considered on the website: tedxflourcity.com.

Speakers will discuss a variety of topics, ranging from “Giving the Gift of Life Through Organ Donation” to “Making Love in the Workplace.” The talks are united by shared themes: empathy and altruism, rethinking our identity, and engaging life completely.

The diverse lineup of speakers includes: distinguished physician and CEO of the University of Rochester Medical Center, Bradford Berk; founder and CEO of NextStepU, Dave Mammano; co-founder of Rochester Parkour, Charles Moreland; and president of the Young Women’s College Prep Charter School, Laura Rebell-Gross. “It’s so much more than a conference. It’s a platform for bringing like-minded people together for conversation, collaboration, and community-building.
